Short Profile of Dean

Zulfiqar Habib was born in Pakistan on September 1, 1966. He earned his PhD degree in Computer Science in 2004 from Kagoshima University Japan followed by the award of Postdoctoral fellowship of two years by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Dr. Habib is holding the position of Professor since 2012 and the founding In-Charge of Center for Research in VIG-Robotics at the Department of Computer Science, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Lahore Campus. He has also served as the Chairman for eight campuses of CUI and currently working as the Dean of Faculty of Information Sciences & Technology.

Dr. Habib’s teaching & research interests broadly span the areas of Digital Image Processing, Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Robotics. He has published a large number of research papers in impact factor journals of good JCR. He has supervised six PhD students with the successful completion of their degrees. Most of the graduate students are completing their degrees in the normal duration and are sponsoring by local and International grants, like HEC, IGNITE, and European Commission’s Horizon 2020.

Dr. Habib has achieved various awards in education and research including two Research Productivity Awards by Ministry of Science & Technology, Pakistan and three graduate merit fellowships by Japanese and German Governments. He is engaged in many academic activities, organizer of various International conferences, and member or advisor of editorial/academic boards. Since 2009, he has been invited to give keynote lectures or tutorial in numerous national and International conferences and as the guest researcher in the universities of Turkey and UK.
